MRSA eradication from long-term-care facility

• All residents screened: 65 MRSA positive (n=65)

  • mupirocin in nares, later to nares and wounds

• Mupirocin rapidly decolonized residents, but re-occurrence in 40% of residents despite weekly maintenance

• MRSA colonization

  • prior study 22.7%
  • mupirocin only nares 22.2%
  • mupirocin nares & wounds 11.5% (10.8% resistance)
